Personalised and Specific Funeral Services to the Madhava Brahmins & Non-Brahmins Community
Welcome to the Madhava Brahmins & Non-Brahmins Community Funeral Services! We have a special way of honoring and remembering those who have passed away. Our rituals are carefully planned for each day of mourning, from the first day to the fourteenth day. We believe in showing respect to the deceased in a comprehensive and specific way.
the Madhava Brahmins & Non-Brahmins Community performs the 13-day funeral rites in an organised approach:
- • Day 1: On the first day, priests perform special ceremonies and rituals while chanting prayers and hymns. They also do something called Dhanam Kriya at the cremation pyre.
- • Day 2/3: The burned remains, like ashes and bones, are collected for something called Asthi Visarjan. This means that the remains are immersed in holy water bodies, and prayers are said to bring comfort to the person who has passed away.
- • Day 1-9: Every day during this period, there are special offerings and rituals called Nitya Karma and Shraddha to show respect.
- • Day 10: On the tenth day, something called Pind Daan is performed. This is a special service offered by a group of knowledgeable priests.
- • Day 11: On this day, a group of priests do active chanting called Rudrajapam. They also say goodbye to the deceased through Pind Daan and Shraddh.
- • Day 12: This day is called Sapindikarana. During this time, priests receive offerings called Karya and Danam.
- • Day 13: On this day, something called Masika or periodic Shraddhs is done. It includes rituals and hymns that are done together.
